Company History

CDS began his activity in Podenzano (PC) in 1977 manufacturing different kinds of plastic products.

In 1980 Cav. Piero Delfanti joined the Company, of which he became the CEO in 1985. In 1982 he started to outline a well-marked “food“ production line: dishes, trays, glasses and the famous base-cups for PET bottles.

Production lines were increased up to the premises allowance. In 1988 the company underwent its first relocation to the new plant in Sarmato (PC), having a much wider area which anyway became again insufficient in a few years’ time.

The production lines were then more than 20.

In the 90s the production of the base-cups for PET bottles was ceased therefore for the first time CDS faced the world of plastic screw caps.

In 1998 a new relocation was executed, this time to the present-day site in Piacenza where space is adequate to the company ever-growing development . In 2007, the acquisition of Viroplastic – Beverage Division, located in Calenzano (FI) enabled CDS to gain an important position in the Italian world of plastic closure production.

2010 represented for Group CDS Srl – Viroplastic Beverage the top score production year, with over 3 billion closures produced.

In March 2013 CDS srl acquired the Viroplastic CZ plant in Fridek Mistek (Czech Republic), thus increasing its global potentiality.
